Canadiens host Carolina on October 6 — who takes it at Centre Bell?
Took Carolina in a few road spots last year and got burned twice on back-to-backs, so I'm leaning your way here. Habs open the homestand at Centre Bell on October 6, 48 wins and 283 goals this season, that's a side that scores at home, period. My play: Habs moneyline for a unit, and I'll look at the puck line only if the book prices Carolina close to even. Checking the goalie cards before I touch anything bigger though, that's where I lost C$150 last March backing a total without confirming the starter. Nashville on the 8th feels like the better value spot down the homestand, honestly. 🔥
Up one week, down the next. Classic.
Agree with the lean, Beth, and the table backs it: 48 wins and 283 goals against 256 allowed tells me the Habs win games by outscoring people, which plays well at Centre Bell to open a five-game homestand. Carolina on October 6 is the toughest of the five (Nashville, Detroit, Buffalo, Washington follow), so the puck line price will be shorter than I'd like, caveat being one game is a small sample, I'd want to see how the legs look after the road trip before pushing real money on it. 📊
I keep my own tables 📊
283 for, 256 against — that defence leaks. Carolina's structure on the road? I'd take the Canes moneyline and maybe the puck line. Habs scoring at home doesn't save you giving up 256. 💸

FaithfulFan63 leaning Carolina again, love it, remind me how that went for you last time you "trusted the structure" 😏 Sure the defence leaks a bit, but 283 goals at Centre Bell against a Canes side on a road trip? I'm with Beth on this one, dropping a lil on the Habs moneyline via Mise-o-jeu and laughing all the way to Timmies if you're wrong again 🤡
Leaky defence or not, 106 points and 48 wins in 82 games didn't happen by accident. Carolina's structure won't save them from a barn like Centre Bell on opening night. 😏

Millie said it right, 48 wins don't fall out of the sky 😉 i rode through a couple of rebuilds with this club back in my day, and teams that score like that at home usually find a way in the opener of a homestand.
one caveat though, and FaithfulFan63 has half a point, 256 against is the kind of number that keeps an old timer up at night. carolina's forecheck on a tuesday crowd can put you in a hole early, and i've seen centre bell go quiet fast when the visitors score first. so my play: habs moneyline, small stake, skip the puck line until i see how the defence looks after the break. if they survive the first ten minutes it's their game.
Been here longer than some have followed.
FaithfulFan63 dropping Canes moneyline takes again, that's rich 😂 Sure the defence leaks, but Carolina flying in for the homestand opener at Centre Bell? Habs, easy. 🤡

agree with badbeat here, 48 wins don't lie and that building on a homestand opener is worth a couple points on its own. only caveat i'd add: carolina's the toughest of the five visitors, so i'd keep the stake modest and maybe look at the puck line instead of straight moneyline. back in the day i used to dump a whole evening's takings on openers like this, learned my lesson the slow way 😄
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
Dave's got the right read on Carolina being the stiffest test of the five. I'm splitting it: a modest moneyline bet on the Habs for October 6, then a separate puck line play for game two against Nashville if the opener lands. That's where the value usually hides on a homestand. Check the starting goalies before dropping anything, though. That's bitten me more than once; loaded up on a side last spring without checking who was in net, watched my C$ evaporate by the second intermission. 😭
So yeah. Moneyline Montréal for the 6th, bankroll untouched until we see the nets. The line moved a touch toward Carolina earlier today, which honestly just sweetens the price. See you after the match. 💸🔥
Value over a big price 💸
