Been running Stake from Canada for a while now and my honest read: it does the job, but you'd better treat your bankroll like a trading account or it'll chew through it fast. Chased a bonus buy straight into the dirt last month, wall of dead spins, took the L, on and forgotten. So what's the actual beef in this thread, the geo side or the fine print? 💸

Three of you with the same bonus buy story in one thread. Question is simple: if the pattern is that predictable, why keep buying? I track every session in a spreadsheet, and dead-spin walls after buys are regular enough that the "one decent run means the next buy will hit" logic never survives contact with the data. Chasing a feeling costs real C$. Show me the numbers that says otherwise.

I treat my Stake roll the same way I treat a puck line bankroll - fixed unit, hard stop after a bonus buy miss. Last buy I chased was over a hundred C$ deep before I closed the tab and went for a beer 🍺. That beer cost me less than the session would have.
Here's the thing the spreadsheet crowd already knows: a bonus buy is just a prop with worse variance. If you wouldn't fire a random prop after two wins in a row, why do it with spins? The decent run beforehand means nothing, every buy is its own event, and the house edge doesn't care about your last ten minutes. I still buy occasionally, small and planned, and honestly the ones I set aside C$ for in advance have landed way more often than the impulse ones ever did. Plan it or don't buy it, that's my rule now 😭💸

Gramps, honest answer: the base game can dead-spin you into next week, a buy at least gets the pain over with in one shot. So I decide the buy budget before I log in, write it off like a slow cab shift, and if it didn't land, that's the whole session, done 💸 What bleeds the bankroll is buying again right after a decent hit, that's the part no spreadsheet saves you from.

Maybe I'm missing something 🙈 but TrueFan, if buys die that often, isn't "getting the pain over in one shot" just paying extra to lose faster? The base game at least spins while you wait, the buy charges you for the privilege 😅 so calling it the smarter option feels like the spreadsheet said otherwise and we ignored it?

Uncle_Guy, you're thinking in EV terms like the buy is a choice between two prices, but for me it's about control. Base game spins are death by a thousand cuts, I can't tell you how many C$ I've bled chasing free spins that never show. Buy budget gets written off before I deposit, same as laying juice on a puck line I don't love. If it didn't land, the shift's over 🍺

My worst Stake nights all started the same way: buy budget gone, then "one more buy" starts whispering 😭 Cold read after the fact, TrueFan and FrontRowLoyal are describing discipline, Uncle_Guy is describing math, and the math never misses. Buy or base game, if the hard stop in C$ isn't written down before you deposit, the house collects either way. Somebody prove me wrong 🍺
