FINALLY boyz, hockey's back 🔥 Oct 7 at Canada Life Centre vs Colorado, I've had this circled since the schedule dropped. Avalanche in our barn to open it?? get in 💪 already asked the boss for that night off, no way I'm missing it. Who else is going?? 🙌
Heart with the team, head on pause.

Colorado in our barn to open it, love that for us 😤 last season was rough to watch tbh (26th, yikes) but fresh start and the boys gonna come out FLYING at Canada Life Centre 🔪💪 already got mine, same seats as always. Avs fans in the building gonna be quiet real quick ah well, nowt to do 🔥🙌

Took a look at the openers before anything else, way I do every fall. Colorado coming into Canada Life Centre Oct 7 and the books still have the Avs as modest favourites, around -135/-140, Jets plus money at home. That feels generous for a team that finished 26th with 231 goals against 260 allowed last year. The value, if there is any, is probably on the puck line with Winnipeg rather than the moneyline, closer to plus odds for a one-goal game in their own building, where the crowd will be mental for the opener. I'll wait on the goalie confirmation before touching it, that's my rule, no bets on an opener until I know who starts. Money-wise I'm thinking a small position, maybe C$50 on the puck line just to have action on opening night, not chasing anything. Five games in eleven nights to start. Anaheim and Minnesota after. And I'd rather save the real stakes for once I see how this roster actually looks against a quality opponent.
Value over a big price 💸

Avs as favourites in our own barn? I've seen scarier season openers... from myself at work on Oct 1 😂🤣 see ya at Canada Life Centre 🍿

Plus money at home vs a team that finished above us by a country mile, lol. Took the Avs ML myself 🤡💸 see you fanboys Oct 7 😏

my late wife used to say you can tell a lot about a man by how he queues for something he loves. stood in that season ticket renewal line at the old barn back in my day, and I'd queue again for an opener like this one. Amy, you're dead right to circle it, Avs in the barn Oct 7 is the kind of night that reminds you why you bother renewing at all 😄 I'll agree with StandsGuy on the fresh start bit, but I'll add my little caveat: last year finished 26th and the goal differential tells you that wasn't all bad luck. Five games in eleven nights out of the gate is a lot of legs, so temper the flying-out-of-the-gates talk a touch. Still, I've watched hockey as long as I have and you learn that opening night forgives everything. see you folks there, I'll be the greybeard in the same seat since the nineties, politely ignoring the price of a beer 😉

Millie taking the Avs ML, love it 😂 my Ontario book already showed me the door last spring so I'll just enjoy the barn Oct 7 rent-free 💸

kev, your wife had it right - queue's where you learn who somebody really is 😄 i've been through a couple of rebuilds with these boys and an opener against the avs in our own barn is worth the ticket money, no question. only thing i'd say is oct 7 is a long way off and these clubs change faces over the summer, so keep the coffee hot till the rosters settle.
Seen it all, lads.

Five games in eleven nights to open, with Pittsburgh tucked in before Colorado even shows up 😏 Millie's already paid my October beer money, thanks in advance 🤡💸

October opener? back in the day I'd have burned through that five-in-eleven stretch no sweat. Now? I circle Oct 7 and let the schedule sort the rest. We'll see who's still grinning by the 16th 😉
