Canadiens host the Hurricanes on October 6
Habs hosting Carolina at Centre Bell on the 6th, and I'm with you on the home side. Montréal finished 6th with 106 points and 48 wins, that's a real house money season, and the crowd at that rink makes life miserable for visiting goalies. My play: moneyline on the Habs, and if the book hangs a puck line around +1.5 games at a decent price I'll take a small nibble there too.
Only hesitation is Carolina's structure, they can strangle a game for 40 minutes and make you chase it. But the schedule after this one is brutal, Nashville on the 8th then Detroit, Buffalo, Washington all crammed in, so Montréal will want this one early. Put C$50 on the ML last night when the line hadn't moved yet, odds were still fair. Worst case I'm down a couple beers at the Billy Bishop after. 🔥 Who else is on this, or is everyone hiding behind Carolina's name?
Bankroll discipline wins.
Fade that comfortably. Carolina's structure beats crowd noise, and I lost money laying the puck line on home teams all last October. Moneyline to Canes, small. 🔥
RetroSinceDayOne fading the Habs again? Mate, you tanked that Canucks pick last month too — structure didn't save your bankroll then either 😏
Show me your ROI first 😏
Fading a team that won 48 games on home ice, bold strategy there Retro 😂 last time you went against the crowd your "structure" pick went up in smoke and Millie's right. I put a cheeky C$20 on the Habs moneyline at bookmaker mostly for fun. Centre Bell on a Tuesday night against Carolina, that barn is gonna be rocking. 💸😏
Jack's tempering note is fair, but I'm on the home side too. Seen worse Habs teams than a 48-win squad at the Bell, believe me 😄
Been here longer than some have followed.
Retro's got a Hurricane pick and a sob story about last October, tragic combo really 😂 remind me of your ROI before I trust "structure"? Habs at the Bell, easy money 🤡💸

Count me with DataDriven on this one, a 48-win Habs side at the Bell is a different animal than the paper numbers suggest, and I've sat through enough October games in that barn to know the crowd still gets under visiting goalies' skin. Only caveat from me: Carolina travel well and can smother a game, so I'd take the moneyline, sure, but think twice before chasing the puck line. 😄
Seen it all, lads.
Retro fading a 48-win home side with October not even started yet, that's brave 😂 pile the fanboys in. My C$20's on the Habs at the book, easy lottery money 🤡💸😏
Funny how everyone's suddenly a believer when the standings say 6th 😄 i'm with DataDriven on this one, that 48-win side at the bell is a real hockey team, first time in a while you can say that. my only caveat is october hockey, back in my day the ice was choppy and nobody's legs were under them yet, so i'd want a price before laying real money on the habs. small play for me, the 8th and 10th games matter just as much.
Been here longer than some have followed.
Carolina in October, half the visiting team still playing preseason legs - Bell Centre will shake 'em early 😏 but sure thing, mate, fade away and post your ROI after the 6th 🤡💸

ben's got it right, that barn has a way of swallowing visiting goalies whole. I had season tickets through the lean years, so trust me when I say nobody in this city takes a 48-win team for granted 😄 my only caveat: october 6th legs, half the hurricanes still finding their stride, so don't be shocked if it's sloppy and one-goal tight. small wager, enjoy the ride.
Love how everyone suddenly remembers the Bell Centre is loud the second the standings back them up 😏 Kev's got a point about October legs though. Hurricanes always look like they're skating in molasses early season, and Montreal get three more home games after this one (Nashville, Detroit, Buffalo) so the building will be hopping regardless. Fading 48 wins in that barn? It's a lottery, not sport 🤡💸
It's a lottery, not sport.
been through enough october openers at the bell to know the crowd's loud but the legs are honest 😄 i'd take montréal on the 6th, just not at any price. Carolina's early-season slack is exactly what the books bake into the line.
Already put C$50 on the moneyline the second this thread popped up, and a half unit on the puck line because the books are baking Carolina's slow legs into the price, that's where the value sits for me. Vet's right that it's not a free roll at any price, so I sized it like a normal Tuesday, nothing heroic. Track the goalies on the morning of the 6th and I'll see you all after it lands 💸
Up one week, down the next. Classic.
