no laughing needed kid, we've all been new at something once 😉 back in the day you just waited for Hockey Night in Toronto and hoped your game got bumped onto the second channel, now you young fellas get choices everywhere.
for october 4 out west you'll want sportsnet+.com/app as your legal streaming routes, both carry nhl games nationally; which network has colourado-st.louis specifically usually gets locked in once schedules finalize, so double-check their listings page near gameday rather than trusting anybody guessing a puck drop time right now (myself included). fair heads up though, subscription will cost you some c$, cheaper yearly plan if you're committed. i'm planning to settle in for this one myself, blues coming in low on the standings while colorado ran away with the league last year... could get ugly early but that's why we watch eh 😄 let us know what platform works for ya.
no need to apologize, john - even us old guys mix them up now and then 😄 sportsnet on tv is the regular channels, sportsnet+ is the streaming app, so you can watch on your phone, tablet or smart tv without a cable subscription. for the colorado-st.louis game on october 4 that's honestly the easiest route out here in alberta, works fine for us mountain folks. back in my day we were lucky if the coop's tv in the basement picked up the away feed at all, so you're doing alright 😉
to answer your question properly john, no they're not the same thing. regular sportsnet on tv is what I watch downstairs with the puck drop already going while I'm still fiddling with the satellite remote. sportsnet+ is the app, you pay a subscription for it separately and it works on whatever screen you've got.
honest advice from someone who's been through a few setups: if you've got cable already, check the listings first because some of these national games still land on the regular channels. the app is nice for the young lot though, my daughter watches half her hockey on a phone which I'll never understand 😄 you'll be fine either way for october 4.
had this same confusion at my own place last winter, so no shame in it 😉 short version: cable sportsnet on the tv if you've got it, sportsnet+ app if you don't, same feed, different pipe. as for puck drop on the 4th, i'd check the schedule listing the day before because afternoon starts get shuffled around. and a friendly word from experience: test your login the night before, not two minutes before the anthem 😄
