Sanderson eating the hard matchups is exactly why you want a second legit top-four defenceman beside him; move Chabot and the left side gets thin fast. Selling at the low point is how you lose a trade twice, weak return now and worse leverage when the buyer knows you're cornered.
Chabot's untouchable for me, tbh 😤 Sanderson can't log 28 a night all year, we seen what happens when the left side goes thin. Heart says it all 🔥💪

How you count it depends heavily on what teams actually pay for: Chabot's C$8M through 2031 reads fine if he's your second-pair anchor eating 22+ minutes, and Sanderson logging the hard matchups every night is exactly why you can't leave the left side with nobody behind him. The nuance is that his value doesn't only slide, defencemen with his skating tend to hold resale longer than forwards do.
So I'd keep him unless a package brings back a top-six forward and a first. Sample size warning applies to all our projections, though: one playoff miss and everyone in this thread flips their board. 📊

Back when I was paying for seasons through the early rebuild, we traded guys one year too early and cried about it for a decade. Chabot at C$8M isn't a betrayal to move, but like Fanatic says, nobody's lining up without a sweetener, and thin left sides have sunk us before. Patience, kids, the cap's not due till October 😄
KevReds just described my own spreadsheet trauma, I've tracked Chabot's ice time every round since 2021, and the dip when the left side thins out is real 📊. My caveat: any deal only works if the return is a right-shot top-four guy, because swapping C$8M of left-side depth for picks just recreates 2019. Depends how you count it, but moving him for futures while Sanderson takes everything would be selling low.
