Rogers Place opener against Seattle on October 3
FINALLY the season's almost here 😤🔥 Rogers Place on Oct 3 vs Seattle, gonna be ROCKING. Whole building's been waiting all summer tbh, me included 💪🙌 who else already booked the night off ah well, nowt to do, see ya there!
One love, one side ❤️
Rode the ferry over from the Island for game 7 of that Dallas series and I swear I've never heard a building louder, my ears rang for two days 😂 so yeah, Kraken night is gonna hit like that again 🔥
Seattle fans crawling out of the woodwork already lol, you just know they'll go quiet by the second period 🤫 Witnessing the opener live, whole barn standing, backing them all day 💪😤 Road trip after is where it gets real tbh, but Oct 3 I'm circling in red. GO OILERS GO 🥁🥁🥁
You don't abandon your own.
Took the night shift off for the 3rd too, booking won't be an issue lol. Haven't seen a posted line yet but if the Oil come out around -150 or better at home I'll take the moneyline, the puck line only if Skinner's confirmed in net that morning. Seattle on the road to open a building that loud? That's value over a big price any night 🔥💸
Value over a big price 💸
Already told the wife Oct 3 she's cooking her own dinner, I've got a date with Rogers Place and a 12 dollar beer 🍻😂 riding with the Oil all five, even Utah 🤣
twelve dollar beer, that one made me chuckle - back in my day at the coliseum you could get a double and still have change from a ten 😄. i'm with you fellas, oct 3 against seattle's circled on my fridge calendar since july. only caveat i'd add: the road swing after is where seasons get made, so ride with the oil all five sure, but i'll judge this team on san jose and anaheim more than opening night.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
ValueHunter the coliseum double for a ten comment nearly killed me 😂 meanwhile FrontRowLoyal waiting on -150 like the books owe him a favour - wait til you see what they hang for an opener, that line's always shaded 🤡 myself I'm circling San Jose on the 10th, lose that one and the whole swing's already leaking money 💸
enforcer's got a point about opener lines, i've seen books shade those worse than a Sunday matsinee ticket price 😄 but san jose on the 10th as the must-win, that's where i'd push back a touch. Watch as long as i have and you'll get it, the trap game is never the one you circle in july. it's the third game of a road swing, body's tired, sharks play loose hockey in october... that's the one that bites you.
me, i've had season seats through two rebuilds now, learned patience the hard way back when we were chasing a draft lottery instead of points. i'd say openers at rogers place are the only true must-win: lose in front of a building that's waited all summer and the whole month feels heavy. the rest? take three of five and everyone's happy. the wife already told me to stop humming the organ riff around the house, so you know october's close 😉
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
DaveArmy talking about trap games while probably parlaying five road trips into one ticket 😂 the real trap is Anaheim on the 8th, second night of back-to-back travel after the opener buzz wears off. Sure thing, mate, circle San Jose in July, tell me how that works out for ya 💸😏
Show me your ROI first 😏
Uncle_Faithful's right about anaheim, that 8th one scares me more than san jose ever did. back in the day we always dropped the sleepy roadie after a big opener 😄
Seen it all, lads.
Funny how everyone picks different landmines on the same trip 😏 badbeat's right tho. Opener high is real, sat through enough of those in arena seats where energy died mid-second period and suddenly it's a weekday crowd begging for one shot on net. Fourth stop of any swing's where legs go, so Utah back home on the 16th might sneakily matter more than Anaheim 🤡
millie hit the nail on the head with the mid-second period energy crash, i've lived that more times than i can count 😄
back in my day we used to call those weekday roadies "the drive home from medicine bear games". Long trip, nothing on the line in your head, and suddenly you're down two before the coffee kicks in. anaheim on the 8th scares me for exactly the reason Uncle_Faithful says: opener buzz fades fast once you're two time zones deep. that's my circle-one game, if i had to pick. san jose looks juicy on paper but dave's right, the one you circle in july is never the one that bites you.
as for the opener itself. I'll be watching from the couch these days, tickets got past what a pension cheque likes, but rogers place on oct 3 should be humming. enjoy it, kids 😉
KevReds calling it "medicine bear games" is the most Canadian thing I've read all week 😂
Honestly the opener itself is what I'd watch closest. Rogers Place gets loud for the puck drop and then quiet as a library if Seattle sits on it for twenty minutes, weekday crowds in October are brutal, everyone's still in work mode. I priced the puck line on that one already and passed, too much rust after a long summer to trust anything 😏 Anaheim on the 8th is the real coin flip though, everyone's said it and they're right. If the Oil go 3-2 on this swing I'm happy, anything less and the "93 points was a fluke" crowd comes crawling out 🤡
Show me your ROI first 😏
the medicine bear line got a proper laugh out of me, kev 😄 watched enough openers here since the old barn days to know the pattern, building's electric for twenty minutes, then seattle parks the bus and suddenly everyone's checking their phone. season after we finished 14th with 93 points, folks talk like the opener settles everything. it never does. the utah game on the 16th might tell us more than the 3rd will, honestly. we'll see eh
Been here longer than some have followed.
