October road trip to Anaheim
FINALLY a date worth circling on the calendar 🗓️🔥 Utah at Rogers Place on the 16th, that's the one boys, first real statement night at home and I'm already buzzing. Road swing through Anaheim, San Jose and LA first? Sure, but that Utah night is where our lot never make it easy and I wouldn't have it any other way 💪🙌
One love, one side ❤️
Road swing first means Utah walk into a building already warmed up... 16th is circled in sharpie 🔥 panic if we stumble in Cali? nah. ah well, nowt to do but wait 😤
Heart with the team, head on pause.
For me the 16th is the play, but the value might be in the puck line rather than the moneyline. Utah walking into a building after we've had three road games to find rhythm - I'd reckon that closes around -150/-160 on the ML, and I'm not paying that when the -1.5 could sit near +140. Dropped 50 on a similar spot last season and it landed clean, biggest ROI night of my month.
Road swing matters too: Anaheim and San Jose are the "should win" nights, LA on the 14th is the trap right before the statement game. If we take all three in Cali, the Utah price will have moved by puck drop, grab it early if you like the home side. Bankroll is everything, don't chase the big price on the road games 💸
Up one week, down the next. Classic.
Circled the 16th in sharpie, then my wife circled our anniversary the same week... praying the boys show up more reliably than I do 🤣🍿
Came to laugh, stayed for life 🍿
Haha bro risk the anniversary, not the game 😂🤬 Sharpie on the 16th for me too, Cali trip just builds the roar at Rogers Place 💪🔥
One love, one side ❤️
Danny pick the game bro, flowers are cheaper than tickets 😂🔥 And Beth, puck line just means Oilers gotta win by 2. 16th is circled, get in! 💪
Don't laugh guys, but maybe I'm wrong, isn't circling the 16th a bit early when we haven't even seen the road trip? 😅 Anaheim first could set the whole tone. Thanks for the puck line answer Sam 🙏
Learn something new every day.
Honest question here. How's Utah walking into a loud building gonna matter if the road trip goes sideways and the crowd's nervous by the 16th? 😅 I kinda side with Dave, Anaheim could tell us a lot before anyone circles anything. Still learning the rhythm here so go easy on me 🙏
Learning from the veterans, go easy 🙏
Uncle_Guy fair point but here's the thing from my own years of rink time, road trips don't flip a crowd, big home nights do 😅 I've watched Rogers Place go quiet in April and insane in October, mood resets fast. Anaheim going sideways? crowd just gets LOUDER on the 16th to drag them thru it. Circling Utah, no hesitation 🔥 LETS GO OILERS 💪
You don't abandon your own.
Fair point about mood resetting, but haven't we all watched a bad road trip hang over a building like fog? 😅 Maybe I'm wrong, still learning this, but Anaheim worries me more than Utah does 🙏
Learn something new every day.
Nick fog? nah man, that fog lifts the second the puck drops 😤 Anaheim's just game 1 of a swing, nobody remembers it by the 16th. Utah night is the one, building's gonna be rocking and they'll feed off it 🔥💪
On the terraces since I was a kid.
Kinda surprised nobody's flipped this around 😅 if the crowd mood resets that fast, doesn't that mean Utah night only matters if the team shows up regardless? Fog lifting or not, I'd still circle Anaheim first - how they handle a road opener tells me more than a loud barn on the 16th. Or am I reading it wrong? 🤔
Nick_Legend's got a point worth chewing on, honestly. Back in my day we circled the same kind of "statement nights" in the old barns, and half the time the game that actually told you something was the quiet one nobody circled 😉 A loud Rogers Place on the 16th can lift a team or bury them if they're chasing it, so which one shows up, the road crew in Anaheim or the home boys on the 16th? I'll believe whichever one earns it, not whichever one I hoped for 😄
