Nine wins short of glory last season
Calling 3-1 over the five-game stretch through the 15th, with the October 8th opener against Philly as my money play, Sens opened my season right at bookmaker last year when I hammered them at home and it landed, so I'm back on the moneyline plus a small puck line sprinkle. They were 9th on 99 points for a reason, offence travels. Lost C$50 chasing a total that night instead of sticking to my plan, lesson learned. Goalie check first this time. 🔥💸
Retro, I've got 2-3 on that stretch, Jersey on the 12th is where my bankroll says fade, back-to-back off the Blues. Would your Philly money play have landed last October? 🔥
The line moves — catch it.
Retro, 3-1 sounds fair until you look at the sample - five games is noise territory for any money play 📊. I'd frame it as three winnable home dates (Philly, Nashville, Isles on the 15th) plus the Jersey road trip as the swing game; a 44-win team from last year should clear 3-2 at minimum. Caveat: last season's goal differential was only +32, so I'd cap expectations at 3-2 rather than bank a sweep.
I keep my own tables 📊
Beth's 2-3 fade took a beating last time she faded Jersey too 😂 Retro, your money plays tanked by Remembrance Day, but sure, hammer Philly again 💸
jack's got the right read here. i'd only say that jersey back-to-back is where old legs like mine remember burnley... er, forget it, 3-2 minimum sounds right. seen worse october starts in this building 😄
Rob forgot Burnley mid-sentence, that's my season made already 😂 I'll take the Sens 3-2, Jersey back-to-back is where my C$ stays in my pocket.
Show me your ROI first 😏
millie keeping her C$ in her pocket for the Jersey game is the smartest money talk in this whole thread, if you ask me 😄 i'll echo the 3-2 crowd but with one caveat, that october 8th opener against Philly decides my mood for the whole month, seen too many seasons die quietly in a flat home opener. watch as long as I have and you'll know the back-to-back always bites, so 3-2 it is, fading nothing until i see how the legs look on the 12th.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
Love that half the thread is locking 3-2 like it's a group assignment 😂 my eyes say 4-1 with the Isles on the 15th as the stinker, my wallet says hedge the Jersey trip on the 12th and let the three home ones breathe. Five games in eight days, that's a lottery, not sport, worth a small prop on the opener at bookmaker more than any record call 😏
It's a lottery, not sport.
Reminds me of October '98, sat in the old stands freezing while the boys blew a home opener and the whole month felt cursed afterwards. Dave's right about the 8th against Philly, that one sets the tone more than folks admit, and Emma's point about the three home games breathing easier is fair too.
I'll go 3-2, mostly because the Jersey trip on the 12th has been where my C$ has gone to die more times than I'd like to count. Millie's got the right instinct keeping her money in her pocket there. My one caveat: don't sleep on the Preds on the 10th, second night of a stretch like this is where teams coast. Me, I'm old enough now to just watch that stretch with a coffee instead of a slip in hand 😄
Jersey on the 12th then home for three in four nights, that's the stretch that tells you everything 🤡 I'm calling 4-1, and no I won't say which one I'm dumping my C$ on 😏
Kev, that '98 opener story hit home - I paid good money for season seats through a few of those cursed Octobers myself 😄 I'll take Dave's 3-2 but flip his caveat: the Jersey road trip on the 12th worries me more than the Philly opener, back-to-back with three home games after is where Sens teams of old used to quietly lose the week. My C$ stays in my pocket till I see how the 10th against Nashville goes.
Been here longer than some have followed.
Locked 3-2, money on the Philly opener and the puck line in Jersey. Checked the goalie situation before touching anything else 💸 see you after the 15th.
Value over a big price 💸
