Quick question from a newbie, the Islanders host Tampa on Oct 10 and I really don't want to miss it 😅 Can someone explain simply where it's on in Canada, Sportsnet or TSN? And what time puck drop is Eastern? Maybe I'm wrong but I thought streaming needed a cable login too? 🙏

puck drop is 7 pm eastern on the 10th. for us in canada it's sportsnet's window for that one. Tsn usually splits the national packages, so check your guide the day before to be sure. streaming-wise you're mostly right: sportsnet+ has a cheap-ish plan (last i looked around C$20 a month) where you don't need a cable login, but the tsn app generally wants you to sign in with a provider. back in the day we just waited for the highlights on the 11 o'clock news, so honestly any of this counts as luxury 😉 i've got my couch booked already. Tampa putting up 290 goals last season means you don't want to be blinking.

Daft question? nah, everyone starts somewhere 😉 a "window" just means the league parcels out national TV rights - Sportsnet gets certain games, TSN gets others, and whoever owns that night's window is the only one allowed to show it. So for Islanders–Lightning on Oct 10, if it's Sportsnet's window, that's your channel at 7 pm eastern; TSN would be showing something else that night. Back in my day we had one snowy channel and liked it, so streaming all this is luxury 😄
to wrap it up for the young ones: 7 pm eastern, sportsnet has that window, and yes the streaming apps want a cable login unless you pay for a standalone subscription. tsn sits that one out. check your guide the night before anyway, i've been burned by a schedule shuffle more than once back in the day 😄
