From the Sens' first skate at the Palladium to Canadian Tire Centre
i was there the night the palladium opened, sitting in the nosebleeds my wallet could afford back then, and i still remember the smell of fresh paint and cold air in that barn. didn't matter where the seats were, the whole place felt like the beginning of something. twenty-some years later i'm dragging the same old body to ctc with my kids in tow, and every time the lights go down before puck drop i get the same little shiver 😄
you young lot probably don't remember when the concourse was half-empty and tickets were cheap enough a small business fella could take the whole family. good times then, good times now — different barn, same heart. so spill it, lads: your first game at the centre, what do you remember?
Fresh paint guy here too 😂 my old man drove me out from Halifax-area the summer the Palladium went up, we just stood outside staring at the shell of it like it was a cathedral. First game I ever saw in the Centre proper the roar nearly took my ears off, been hooked ever since. 🙌🔥
Heart with the team, head on pause.
fresh paint and cold air, you two nailed it. my first one in the centre, i paid through the nose for parking without knowing any better 😄 what gets me even now is how the whole barn goes quiet on a faceoff like it's church, then erupts all at once. twenty-odd years on and my heart still does that little skip when the lights drop.
KevReds that faceoff silence then BOOM. Exactly it 😂 my first game at the Centre my dad got us seats behind the glass and when the puck dropped the whole place jumped outta their skins, gave me goosebumps I still get walking in. Jack you're right tho, this crew's gonna earn its own roar soon 🏒🔥
You don't abandon your own.
My first Centre memory is me crying into a C$9 beer because I spent my rent money on tickets 🤣 worth it tho, that '04 roar fixed my ears and broke my wallet for life 😂
Hold my pint.
