Everyone's fading the Oilers at 14th
14th in the table but 282 goals says the offence travels fine, so I'm on their moneyline in Anaheim on the 8th and taking the puck line against San Jose on the 10th. The Kings game on the 14th is the one I'm leaving alone, LA drags teams into mud. Took a modest C$50 slice on the road trip parlay, value over a big price. 💸
Value over a big price 💸
Funny thing, Harry, I've had the Kings game burned into me before - took a road favourite in LA once, watched them get mugged 2-1 and my C$50 went up in smoke 💸. But +13 goal differential on a team sitting 14th? I'd flip it: I'm leaving Anaheim and San Jose alone and taking the Oilers moneyline in LA on the 14th, because teams that can score 282 don't stay quiet in a mud game, they just need one bounce. Smaller stake, but that's where the value's hiding IMO 🔥
Up one week, down the next. Classic.
Harry's read on LA is the sensible one, and the table backs it up more than people think. Sure, 282 goals for against 269 against, that's a +13 goal differential on a 14th-place team, which tells you the offence carried them while the defence leaked. Four games in eight nights (Anaheim the 8th, San Jose the 10th, LA the 14th, then Utah home on the 16th) is where a minus goal-difference side usually pays the toll, especially the back half of a California swing.
So I'd flip Harry's card slightly: the Anaheim and San Jose legs are the value, agree with him there, but the Kings game isn't just "mud". It's the third road game in six days against a team that drags everything to a crawl, and 269 goals against says this club gives up chances even when fresh. If you must touch the 14th, take the under or stay off it entirely; the moneyline there is where bankrolls go to nap. Utah at home on the 16th, fresh off the trip, is honestly the cleaner spot.
I keep my own tables 📊
Beth got smoked in LA once and now she's a coward for life? Love it 😂 Harry, your Anaheim pick last month went about as well as my barber. I've got the Oilers ML in all four, bookie's the bookie offering value and I'm firing 🤡
Glory, firing on all four moneylines is exactly how I lost a whole season's beer fund back in my day, so take that for what it's worth 😄 I've had season tickets through a few of these rebuilds and I've watched plenty of talented road trips turn into a slog once you hit California — three time zones, dead crowds, long bus legs, it adds up.
That said, I'm mostly with Harry. Anaheim and San Jose on the 8th and 10th, fine, the 282 goals should travel. But the Kings on the 14th. I learned years ago to skip the ugly ones. +13 differential on a 14th-place team tells you they win high-event games, and the Kings are masters at turning those into 2-1 grinders. I'd rather save the bankroll for Utah at Rogers Place on the 16th, where I actually trust what I'm watching. Worth noting all this comes from a guy who once bet the under on his own wedding night, so temper expectations 😉
Been here longer than some have followed.
Glory firing four MLs like his barber cut his bankroll too 😂 I'll take the Sharks game on the 10th as the gimmie, San Jose at home is where bettors go to donate. Kings on the 14th though? That's where Harry's C$ goes to die, ask Beth 😏
badbeat's beer fund story is basically my twenties too, buddy, i once rode four straight road picks off a hot streak out of rogers place and flew home from vegas having financed everyone else's weekend 😄 i like the oilers in anaheim and san jose fine, 282 goals or not, but that kings game on the 14th i'd rather watch with no money on it; too many years of leaving LA grumpy to trust that one.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
282 goals while conceding 269, that offence travels alright, so does the leaky defence 🤡. Kings on the 14th is the only one worth touching, LA smothered better teams than this. Enforcer's right, the Sharks game is a donation drive, mate 😏
It's a lottery, not sport.
Two goals a game conceded is why I'm taking singles on the Ducks and Sharks til only and letting the Kings mess sort itself 😏 good luck fading LA, Kev.
Millie's got it right, honestly — singles on Anaheim and San Jose are the only sensible bets in that stretch, the Kings game on the 14th is a coin flip dressed up as a pick 😄 i watched as long as I have and you'll get it: oilers road trips out west always throw up one stinker, and that defence giving up 269 tells me which night it'll be. i'd keep the stake small and save the real money for Utah at home on the 16th.
Locked in a unit on the Kings moneyline Oct 14, small play on the Oilers puck line in San Jose. Ducks tilt I'm passing on. See you after the matches, bankroll will tell the story 💸
