Before that the second pair was fine, not spectacular, fine. What I noticed watching the third-period collapses is more specific than "the defence falls apart": every time the lead started melting, Bednar kept rolling Makar against the top line and the second pair got the hardest sheltered minutes against the other team's forecheck, which they simply couldn't exit against. Same script three home games running. So yeah, depth is the issue. But the fix isn't panic-trading for a name. It's minutes management and one legitimate top-four addition. Show me a GM who does both before the deadline and I'll eat my words happily.
