Brave enough? I've got C$50 riding on Calgary moneyline and a smaller punt on the puck line, and I'll tell you why. Home opener at the Saddledome, first game of the season. Nobody's record from last year means a thing yet, including that 29th place and the 212-259 goal difference. Colorado will likely rest half their big guns at some point in the opening week, and if their backup gets the start, the price on the Flames is way too fat to ignore. My the book has this around +150-ish territory for Calgary ML and I'm not chasing a big price, value over a big price every time. One slip story to keep me humble: took a home dog in an opener a couple years back, felt great about it, starter got hurt in warmups and I didn't check. So this time, first thing I do before dropping a loonie is confirm both starting goalies on the morning of Oct 9. If Colorado ices a full lineup with their No.1 in net, I might scale back to a half unit or pass.
Value over a big price 💸

I keep my own tables every round, Harry, and here's the nuance with your logic. Yes, opening night resets everything, but last season's sample doesn't just vanish, it carries over into how the roster is built. A team that finished 29th with 77 points and got outscored 212-259 over 82 games didn't do that by bad luck; that's a 47-goal negative differential across a full season, which usually means structural issues, not variance. That said, I'll give you one column that actually supports you: home openers tend to flatten talent gaps in small samples, and Colorado won't have playoff intensity in game one either. So the moneyline isn't crazy, I'd just caveat the puck line, because a 29th-place side covering against a top seed is where those C$50 stakes go to die. 📊 I'm leaning Calgary win in a close one, but I'd cap the exposure. Sample of one game, so honestly it's closer to a coin flip with home ice than anything the table says.

Respectfully Jack, tables won't save you opening night. I'd rather take the Avs moneyline than Calgary's puck line, and Harry's C$50 didn't land for me last season twice. 😭

Ben, mate, this is the same guy who told us in March his "locks" were printing, then his bankroll evaporated faster than my paycheque 😂 Harry's C$50 on the Flames moneyline? Bold, but I'll give him this, opening night at the Saddledome, everyone's 0-0, weird things happen. Jack's got a point about the roster carrying over though, 29th place doesn't get fixed by confetti and anthems. Me? I'm not touching Calgary straight up against Colorado, that's donating money to the bookies the sportsbook 💸 I'd rather find a prop or live-bet it if the Avs come out flat after their ring ceremony whatever. Wait for the fanboys to pile in defending the home ice magic, but 212-259 is laughable really, that defence leaked like the Dome roof in a hailstorm 😏

I'm with Ben here. Small sample caveat aside, one home game won't fix a 212-259 goal difference. Avs moneyline for me.
Context beats a bare stat.

Zoe, 212-259 means squat Oct 9, we're all 0-0 🔥 barn's gonna be LOUD that night, Avs travelling after Seattle won't love it. C$20 on us, no fear 💪
One love, one side ❤️

Think of it like the first skate of the season, nobody's edge is sharp yet, and that cuts both ways. My angle is the schedule: Colorado comes in Oct 9 after Seattle on the 5th, early-season legs and travel, while Calgary gets the home opener crowd and nothing to lose with a 77-point roster everyone already wrote off 📊. Small sample though. One night proves nothing. I'd take a modest C$25 on the Flames moneyline purely because the price on an Avs road win opening night will be too short.

lol Zoe acting like last year's table means anything on opening night 😂 Avs after Seattle travel, barn rocking, and you're scared of a home team?? I've seen weirder at the 'Dome 🔥
You don't abandon your own.

Value's the whole case for me: a 77-point side at home against a favourite prices in way too much last season. Small sample, sure, but opening night spreads overreact to the previous table. C$20 Calgary ML, no prop side bets. 📊

Gary, value? Last season's table is baked in for a reason 😂 212-259 goals gets torched by MacKinnon, opening night or nah. C$20 says I'm right, ah well, nowt to do 🤬
On the terraces since I was a kid.

Steve, you're pricing Calgary like last season's 212-259 carries over intact, but rosters reset and a home opener flattens shot quality variance more than most props account for. Depends how you count it, 77 points against Colorado's table looks grim, yet opening-night goals against a travelling Avs side land closer to a coin flip than the moneyline implies. I'll take the C$20 side of your bet, Steve.

Took Calgary ML myself at the the sportsbook before the line moves. Whatever Colorado does, home opener debt don't care. See you after the match 🔥
