Five road games in eight nights with this roster - can we survive it?
FINALLY hockey is almost back 🔥🔥 and they hand us THIS schedule to start with, brutal lol
Five straight on the road to open the year, Carolina first, that's a nightmare warmup for a club that finished dead last with 58 points tbh. our lot never make it easy 😩 216 goals for, 316 against... you just know October's gonna hurt. Still I'll be glued to every one of them, that's what being a fan is 💪
My pick for a win? Islanders maybe, maybe the Rangers on the back-to-back if their goalie has an off night 🤷 which one are you lads actually giving us a chance in?
One love, one side ❤️
Doom and gloom already Sophie?? 😤 nah lads, this is when we're dangerous, nobody expects ANYTHING from us so there's zero pressure. Carolina's gonna hurt tbh, but that Islanders game? winnable as hell, get in 🔥 whole league sleeping on us and I'm fine with that, easier to shock em 💪
Heart with the team, head on pause.
Amy, winnable as hell? I'd need to see +200 or better on the Isles before I touch that, and even then it's a small punt, a club that went 25-49 last year getting road odds against anyone is donation money. Carolina first game back after travel, I'd honestly just sit that one out, maybe a buck or two on the Canuck puck line at +1.5 if it prices around -110, that's the only value I smell in the whole swing. Checking who starts in goal before anything else though, that moves these lines more than anything. 💸
Bankroll discipline wins.
Me watching that Carolina game opening night with a 216-goal offence 🤣 my corpse will be watching the second period through my fingers, hold my pint
Hold my pint.
Harry's already pricing the Isles like a charity drive 😂 even the "winnable" one needs +200 to be a proper punt, that's where this club is at. Honestly the only game I'd circle is the Islanders myself, rest of that swing reads like a farewell tour. Sure thing, mate, my C$20 says we come home with one win, maximum 🤡💸
Show me your ROI first 😏
Back in the day we'd open with five home dates and still find a way to lose three of them 😄 Millie's got it right, the Isles are the one circleable game, but I'd add the Rangers as a sneaky chance, bunches of back-to-back games go sideways for both clubs and Oct 11 is the back half for us AND them if I'm reading that swing properly. Old school rule though: hope for one road win in five, be thrilled with two.
Seen it all, lads.
I'd love to see the odds on any of these before I laugh at a 25-49 road team 😂 even Millie's "winnable" Isle date smells like donation money to me 🤡💸
Agree with FrontRowZone here - the Isles one I'd circle too, but the Rangers back-half is the sneaky pick for me. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it: October hockey is garbage hockey anyway, everybody's legs are gone and the bad teams steal points. I sat through a few October openers at the old Forum that promised nothing and delivered less 😄 my two bits: take the point wherever it comes.
Been here longer than some have followed.
Love how everyone's suddenly an October optimist 😏 my book's got me covered either way - one punt on the Isles puck line and I call it entertainment, not a pick 🤡💸
funny thing, i sat through worse than this back in the day. That spring the club opened on a western swing and looked dead for a month, still half the barn wore jerseys like nothing happened 😄 data guy's right that october hockey is wonky and the rangers back-half is the one i'd lean on too, though my caveat is simple: 216 goals against 316 last year means even the stealable games need a goalie standing on his head. i'll watch all five regardless, season ticket holder habits die hard, but my money's staying in my pocket this time 😉
Been here longer than some have followed.
i remember thinking the exact same thing before a season opener maybe fifteen years ago. Five away games, body said fold the tent, and somehow the boys came home .500 and everything felt possible until november showed up 😄 saw too many springs where the worst-looking stretch turned into something. which of those five do i trust? ask me again in march, that's when seasons tell you who they were.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
