Watched Sid win draws in his own zone, lose them, then go back out for the next shift to fix it, at his age that's just daft. Word is there's a 2C or two floating around out west who might be had without gutting the cupboards, and supposedly Dubas has been kicking tires. Half the room says it's smoke, but I'd take even mediocre faceoff help at this point.
And honestly, the power play looks like a man-advantage practice drill where nobody showed up. Give the top unit an actual finisher down the middle and maybe the zone entries stop being a giveaway montage. Anyone else hearing anything on names, or is it all just forum noise again? 😏

Every trade deadline some anonymous scout "word" floats a name and by March it's a 4th-liner with a 42% faceoff rate. Show me the numbers before we start dreaming about Sid skipping double shifts.

Fanatic asked the fair question, so here's my sober read. A legit top-six 2C who wins his own draws doesn't come cheap at any deadline, teams out west don't move those for futures plus a conditional pick. Age is the complicating factor too: Dubas is more likely buying a 25-year-old with term than a 30+ rental, and that means a first-rounder and a prospect from the cupboard minimum. Depending how you count it, there are maybe two or three plausible names per season who actually fit Sid's profile, and half of those get re-signed by their own clubs before March.
Where I'd temper Enforcer: the draw problem is real but it's a cheaper fix than Ben's power-play dream implies. A 55% faceoff 4C-in-a-pinch or a depth centre acquisition solves the double-shifting. A genuine finishing 2C? That's the luxury item, and with the cap picture the way it is, I'd put the odds at "kick the tires, priced out" territory.

Jack, depends how you count it though, every thread we've had on this over the last three seasons said the same thing, "teams don't move those guys," and then someone moves one anyway when their season goes sideways. Teams out west dumping a 2C mid-year happens more often than you'd think, you just need the right seller at the wrong moment. The Battle of Alberta alone has produced more deadline desperation than half the East combined.
My actual doubt is different: nobody's answered Fanatic's cost question. If the price is a first plus a legit prospect, fine, Dubas should be on the phone yesterday. But if we're trading from a cupboard that's already thin after years of win-now deals, then Sid double-shifting for two more months is the cheaper outcome. Show me the ask before I get excited, honestly. 📊

gary's got it right, funny how these threads rhyme. back in the day i remember everyone swearing certain centres were untouchable too, whole threads of "dream on, they'll never move him". And then spring rolls around, some GM panics, and off he goes for less than we figured. seen it all before 😄
the "due diligence out west" line always makes me chuckle too, that's just front office talk for kicking tires. half those rumours die quiet by christmas, the other half turn into something nobody predicted. time will tell, like my old man used to say. The lake freezes or it doesn't, no point arguing about it in november. sid deserves his finisher either way 😉
