Canucks get two wins on their five-game road trip?
Two wins minimum out of that trip? Bold, I'll say 1-4 honestly. A club that went 25-49-8 and got outscored 216-316 doesn't suddenly turn into a road warrior against Carolina, Jersey, the Rangers, the Islanders and Florida in eight days. Carolina and Florida alone are likely two L's, no chasing that. I took the under on their road win total for that stretch at bookmaker and put C$50 down, if they somehow steal two, fair play, but the moneyline prices in most of those buildings will be ugly anyway. First thing I check before any Canucks bet is the goalie situation, and even with a decent starter it's hard to trust this defence. My exact call: 1-4, single win against the Isles on October 13 if anyone.
Up one week, down the next. Classic.
Beth23 has the right read here, I just want to put a number on it: a -100 goal differential over 82 games (216-316) works out to being outscored by about 1.2 goals a night, and road splits only amplify that. I'd set the realistic band at 1-4 with maybe a 25% chance of a second win, most plausibly against the Islanders on October 13, Carolina and Florida I'd mark as near-automatic losses. Caveat: one five-game sample is noisy, so I'd only touch the puck line on the Islander game, nothing else.
I keep my own tables 📊
Jack_Fan, the 1.2 goals a night thing is real but it's a full-season number, it doesn't tell you what this roster looks like game to game, and neither does Beth23's 1-4 being chalk. League-wide that team will get priced like a dead puck every night, so the books already baked the hopelessness into the moneyline. Anyone laying -200+ against them nightly knows the risk; value is where the line overcorrects, and bad teams coming off a 25-49 season with nothing to lose are exactly where prices drift fat.
My call: 2-3 on the trip, and both wins come from the middle stretch — Jersey and the Islanders on Oct 10 and 13, the two games where they're probably closest to even money. Carolina and Florida I'm not touching, agreed there, and the Rangers date I'd fade too. Last year I chased a "sure thing" moneyline against a bottom feeder and it cost me a chunk of bankroll when the tanking squad showed up to play. Lesson learned.
RetroSinceDayOne talked me into 2 wins last month too, how'd that C$ work out for ya? 😏 I'll take the 1-4, this trip's a lottery, and the worst kind. 🤡
Laughable that anyone needs math to see this. Five road games in eight days against Carolina first and Florida last is a meat grinder, and this club got outscored by 100 over 82. I'll take the 1-4 with Beth23, and even that feels generous honestly. Anyone riding 2+ wins here, don't come crying about your C$ after October 15 😏
i've been holding season tickets since the early 90s and watched worse teams than this one limp through road trips, so believe me when i say i know what a meat grinder looks like 😄 that said, enforcer and beth are probably right, 1-4 is the sensible call against carolina and florida in particular. my one caveat for the young lot: october hockey is chaos. clubs come out of camp with new systems, goalies steal games cold, and a hopeless looking roster on paper sometimes nicked two points off a quality side before thanksgiving. i'd put my loonie on 1-4 with a puncher's chance at 2-3 if the jersey game goes sideways for them. not putting real money on it though, been burned by october optimism too many times 😉
Everyone crowing 1-4 like it's a layup, but this road swing starts in Carolina and ends in Florida on the 15th - that's the two nastiest booksends on the whole trip, mate. 😏 Meanwhile I already dropped a cheeky C$ on the Canucks moneyline against the Islanders on the 13th, that one smells like the softest game of the five. If GloryDays' "lottery" logic held, nobody would ever cash a prop in October. 🤡
Show me your ROI first 😏
seen this movie more times than i can count, fellas 😄 i had seats through the late 90s rebuilds and watched squads that couldn't buy a road win drop two out of nowhere on trips like this. so beth and veteran are close to my number, but i'll nudge it, 2-3, and i'd even wager a small C$ prop on the islanders game being the second win, teams always steal one in the middle of these swings when nobody's watching. carolina first and florida last is where the points go to die, that part i won't argue with millie.
Been here longer than some have followed.
Splitting it middle here: I've got 2-3 on this trip, put a modest C$50 on the over 1.5 wins and took the Islanders game Oct 13 as my single best shot at a moneyline. The line moved enough that some value crept in on that. Carolina and Florida I'm staying clear of entirely. See you after the 15th. Either I'm buying a round or eating a bad beat 💸
Value over a big price 💸
