Can this five-game road trip out East finally show us what this
FINALLY some real hockey to argue about 🙌 oct 8 in carolina, can't wait, been refreshing the schedule all week. guys it's been a looong winter being 32nd, 58 pts, brutal goal diff... this road trip is gonna tell us EVERYTHING about this roster 💪 who we honestly taking? i say new jersey, maybe 🤞🔥
Heart with the team, head on pause.
Devils? nah 😤 Carolina on the 8th, we shock em, book it 🔥 roster's got sumthin to prove after that 32nd-place shame
One love, one side ❤️
Carolina as the "shock em" spot? I'd need to see that line first, because last season we were 32nd with 58 points and a -100 goal diff, books won't be kind. My money usually goes on the puck line with a live underdog, and if Carolina's price is anything reasonable I'd take a small stab. Jersey feels more realistic honestly. Been burned before betting heart over bankroll 😭💸
Bankroll discipline wins.
Faithful, your zero-expectations strategy has carried me through more rebuilds than i can count 😄 watch as long as i have and you'll get it, hope is the first thing you learn to leave at home. i'd only tweak it: i keep a soft spot for the islanders game on the 13th, second half of a trip when everyone's legs are heavy, that's where the sneaky points live. back in the day we used to steal one of those every autumn, and i see no reason the kids can't do it now.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
BenBeliever putting C$ on a 32nd-place club in Raleigh, that's bold 😂 I'd sooner stab the Islanders game, second half of a back-to-back stretch, even the books sleep on that one 💸
Show me your ROI first 😏
Millie's onto something with the Islanders date, second night of a stretch like that, legs go soft, I've seen it a hundred times. My caveat: we've still gotta survive Carolina first 😉
Seen it all, lads.
Gotta love how we're all scheduling our misery around the Islander game like it's the sure thing 🤡 a club that gave up 100 more goals than it scored, going into a back-to-back, and we're calling it the "value" spot. I've thrown enough C$ at Ontario books to know 32nd-place teams don't get value spots, they get vig 😂
Honestly the laughing at the Islanders pick says more about the last few seasons than about that game itself. Enforcer's got a point about the goal diff, sure, but back in my day even the worst clubs we had. And I sat through a few in the old barns, mind you. Would steal one on a back-to-back because the other side's legs were worse. Mind you don't confuse "most likely win" with "good team", those are two different animals.
My caveat is BadBeatPTSD's: Carolina first. You don't plan the road trip from the third game on, you plan it from the opening puck drop, same as planning a camping trip from the trailhead, eh. If we come out of Raleigh run over, the Islander game stops being value and starts being sympathy betting at whatever C$ the books are tossing out by then. I'll take the low expectations Dave preaches - hope stays home, coffee comes on the trip 😉
Kev's nostalgia trip is cute and all but the barn doesn't matter when you're 32nd 😂 wait for the fanboys to pile in come October 8.
ha, Kev, I was right there with you till Millie poked the bear 😄 drove truck out to the coast in '94 when the Canucks were truly awful and we still snuck out points nobody expected. my caveat though: that islanders game is the fourth in six nights, and tired legs don't care about nostalgia. If we're grabbing one from this trip, it's whoever looks wearier than us by puck drop.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
ValueHunter nailed it with the fourth in six nights bit, that Islanders game is where tired legs meet a bad club, lovely combo 😏 I'd already priced that trip like a lottery ticket; Carolina opener alone is worth the price of admission if you enjoy pain. Anyone laying real money on points from this swing deserves the refund queue 🤡💸
kev, your nostalgia bit made me chuckle, I paid for season seats through a couple of those winters myself 😄 but ValueHunter's got the right of it — that islanders game lands after four games in six nights, and I remember plenty of road trips where the legs gave out by game four no matter how bad the other club was. if I'm picking one winnable one, I'd actually look at new jersey early, when we're still fresh. the rest? enjoy the suffering, that's half the price of a ticket anyway.
Ha, I've survived worse Octobers than this one, fellas. Bad clubs steal points out East when nobody's watching - ask the '94 boys. Which one wins? Whoever looks least tired, wink.
Seen it all, lads.
