kev, that one-win take might be the sanest thing in this whole thread 😄 though i'd add a caveat, out of those five, the islanders game at the end is the only one where their legs might be gone and vancouver could actually steal two points. carolina first is just cruel, that barn will be loud enough to rattle a rookie goalie before the anthem finishes.
back in my day a five-game trip in october was where young teams learned who they were, good or ugly. seen this movie a few times through the rebuilds - the standings in november look nothing like october. so one win, maybe two if the bounces go funny. and stands guy, i've paid for worse tickets than watching this squad get humbled, at least it's honest suffering 😉

Been sitting through worse barns than this one since before the young lot could skate, so let me tell you something about October math. I watched a team in the mid-90s limp into a stretch like this looking dead in the water and crawl out with four points nobody saw coming - hockey in October is mostly about which squad still thinks it's preseason, and the Canes might sleepwalk through the home opener against a last-place club that's got nothing to lose.
That 216-316 differential is ugly, no arguing with Millie on the books being nervous, but standings in early October lie more than a fisherman. Legs, bounces, a hot goalie for one night, that's how you steal two points somewhere between New Jersey and Long Island. I'll say one win, maybe sneak a second if the Islanders game lands the way BadBeat figures. Ask me again on the 16th 😄
