Avalanche come to the Saddledome on October 9
Counting down the days already 🔥 October 9, Avs at the Dome, and we get to see what this version of the Flames actually looks like. Yeah I know the table said 29th last year, that stung like hell, but opening night everyone's 0-0 and the building is gonna be LOUD 🙌
Then it's Anaheim twice and that Seattle/Vegas road swing - five in twelve days right out of the gate, no soft landing whatsoever. Honestly that schedule worries me a bit tbh, but if we can steal a point or two from Colorado in front of a packed Saddledome? Get in! Who's going, ah well, nowt to do till then but wait 😤💪
One love, one side ❤️
Avs fans already booking flights?? 😂 the Dome on opening night eats visitors alive, ask anyone who's sat up top when the crowd gets going 🔥 29th place means nothing on oct 9, fresh season, 0-0 everyone. Gonna be LOUD 🙌
Heart with the team, head on pause.
When the books hang that opener line I'm watching the puck line more than the moneyline, honestly. Avs visit usually means Calgary takes a price at home and the Dome crowd bumps them a goal - last year I dropped C$150 chasing that spot against a favourite and learned to wait for the opening number instead. Vegas on the 16th is where I'd expect the real value anyway. 💸
Bet my C$ on the Avs line day one, easy money 😏 29th place club hosting MacKinnon on a fresh season? Lottery, not sport, fanboys 🤡💸
My knees still remember the old benches at the Stampede Corral, so pardon me if I chuckle at "fresh season, 0-0 everyone" 😄
ParlayPain's right that the Dome on opening night is its own animal, I've sat up top through a few rebuilds now and the crowd absolutely lifts this team for twenty minutes at a time. But here's my gentle caution for the young ones in this thread: enthusiasm carried us through plenty of October nights, then November arrived and the legs got heavy. Twenty-ninth place last year wasn't bad luck, we got outscored by near fifty goals over the season, and Colorado will test that quick. So yes, October 9 will be loud and I'll be in my seat early for it - just don't hand GloryDaysHQ the satisfaction of reading too much into one night, either way. 😉
Seen it all, lads.
GloryDays dropping C$ on the Avs like he's the bookie himself 😂 Twenty minutes of Dome lift then reality, eh. Somebody hold my chequing account, it's October 9 already 🤡💸
frontrow, you and me both. My knees know the corral too, seen my first game there back when tickets cost less than a bad pizza 😄 and i'll say the dome crowd does give them that first period push, opening night especially.
but twenty-some games into a season? watch as long as i have and you'll get it. The lift wears off right quick when you're sitting 29th and MacKinnon's flying through the neutral zone. still, october 9 i'll be in my usual seat with the same jerky i've brought for fifteen years. glorydays can keep his C$ on the puck line, easy money has a way of turning into easy lesson, as my old man used to say 😉
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
212 goals for, 259 against last season, but sure, opening night magic fixes everything 😂 GloryDays, if you're so sure about that Avs line, post the slip or quit flapping 🤡
Millie, hun, those 212-and-259 numbers hurt to read but they don't lie, my old man used to say the standings settle everything by Christmas 😄 i'll agree with dave though, opener crowd does carry 'em for a spell. back in my day at the corral that first period buzz was worth a goal on its own, but come game twenty in november nobody's cheering you out of a rebuild, so let's enjoy october 9 for what it is 😉
Kev, hun, the standings settle it by Christmas? Then by that math nobody in this thread should be paying attention till December 😂 Opener's still worth the C$, Dome'll be bouncing 🤡😏
Show me your ROI first 😏
millie, you'd have loved the eighties then, we'd all avert our eyes till christmas and still fill the barn 😄 i've sat through enough openers here to know the dome can make a mediocre team look like a contender for about twenty minutes, then reality strolls in wearing an avs jersey. my old man used to say opening night tells you the lineup, tells you nothing else. i'll be in my seat on the 9th regardless, C$ well spent just for the buzz.
