Vegas, Colorado and Utah in three nights is no picnic, so I'd temper the sweep talk, but hey, that's why they play them.

Back when I was doing the Gardens run through the eighties we called this "paying the hope tax," and I've been paying it for forty years 😄 299 against is brutal, but if the boys take even three of four on that Vegas-Colorado-Utah swing I'll believe a little again. Buffalo on the 15th tells us more than the logo ever will.

The hope tax line hits home, I've been filing that same return since the Gardens days, though mine started with Joe Reardon-looking wingers bleeding out 5-4 games 😄 One caveat though: backing the logo and backing the roster aren't the same beast, half this crowd would still show at C$40 a ticket if we dressed the Marlies, so maybe the logo's just what we call the roster when it's hurting. That Vegas swing will tell us which one we're really paying for.

counting the years I've had seats through three of these teardowns and you learn the pattern. everyone screams "backing the logo" in september, then halloween comes and the same crew is quiet, and by christmas the talk shifts to the draft lottery. the 299 against won't vanish on a road trip, no matter how loud the countdown threads get 😄 the young lot never saw what it felt like waiting out the eighties and nineties at the old barns, that was hope tax with no refund, and we still showed up. so ask yourself honest before vegas: are you backing those d-men who bled 299, or just the jersey in your closet? i'll be watching the colorado game before i say anything i'd want printed on a shirt. we'll see which way the boys lean, eh? 😉
